Correction and Apologies from S.H.A.N.
Thanks to M. ..., the reader who responded quickly by informing S.H.A.N., according to the latest report from Chiangrai, the price had not fallen, we had Maihoong recheck and discovered that contrary to Report # 11 - 16, prices in fact have not been dropping, but instead are on the "up".
Heroin price in Nakawngmu (Mongton Township) at present is B. 260,000 and opium is B. 31,000 per joy (1 joy = 1.6 kg).
Maihoong, who was the first reporter to break the news about the rising trend of heroin after years in the backyard ("Heroin on the rage again", 3 February 2000), said he felt all the worse, because he knew he should have done better. "It could have been a simple matter to consult my usual sources, instead of trusting a group of hilltribe wayfarers who probably considered me a gullible busybody which I was."
S.H.A.N. also sincere's apologises to our readers for the mistake. You certainly deserve better service from us.
Mysoong (Wishing You Progress &
Prosperity)
S.H.A.N.
