Seizures must be reported by the media, say bosses
Drugs
An informed source interviewed by S.H.A.N. on Monday (18 February) said agents whose drug shipments were seized by Thai authorities must have the seizures be reported by public information systems so they could be acquitted by the big bosses.
"They could continue to place orders for more shipments, and the paw-liang (boss) would take a share in part of the profits to make up for his losses," the source, whose home is in Monghsat township, told S.H.A.N..
He also confirmed that more opium
has been harvested this year, most of which is being refined into
heroin.
"With heroin, you're paid in full in cash," he said. "With yaba
(methamphetamines), you're paid in kind. It'll either be
motorcycles or cars."
The price of opium in Monghsat appears to be stabilizing at B. 17,000 per viss (1.6 kg) while heroin has climbed up from last year: B. 240,000 per block (700 grams) or B. 240,000 - 250,000 per kilogram in powder form.
"The lion brand is considered finest in quality. It is being produced in Panghsang, Monyawn, Base 46 (near Mongyawn), Pu Nako (Mongtoom tract, near the proposed Thai project site of Nayao a.k.a. Yawngkha), Nampoong (Loitawkham tract, Tachilek township) and Nakawngmu (Mongton township)," he said.
As for yaba, the heart-brand is fetching the highest price at 16 baht per pill (it used to be 13 baht a few months back), while WY (four brothers) gets B. 14 and WY (two brothers) B. 12, according to the source. The low quality yaba can be bought at 6-7 baht.
Mongpawk, where the (UN Drug Contol Program) has been running a development project, is also named by the source.
