Speeds awaits to be sped across Thailand

Following report of shortage in methamphetamines in Thailand resulting from the kingdom's all-out three month campaign, sources across the border have reported millions of pills being moved to easy-to-access locations opposite northern Thai provinces.

"One million was transported from Hwe Aw (opposite Chiangdao District) to Monghta (opposite Wianghaeng District) on 6 March by the Wa right under the eyes of Light Infantry Battalion #529," said the source. "Another 2 millions arrived at Namyoom (just six miles across Chiangmai's Chiangdao District border) on 9 March."

Thai military sources have also corroborated that they were receiving similar reports from all Shan townships opposite Maehongson, Chiangmai and Chiangrai provinces. "Nobody knows why they (Wa and Burmese) are doing it and what they hope to benefit from the Thai drug situation," said one. "But they are offering a good price: 5 baht each(down from 12 before)."

One reason offered by Thai drug suppression sources is that the Wa are trying to "wash out their old stocks" before the expiration of the drugs' potency. "That's why they're making the price attractive," one explained. "It could not have been newly manufactured pills. It must be those churned up before our campaign started"

So far there are no reports of anybody from the Thai side taking up the bait.

The Thai army's deployment of troops along the border has made passages of drug convoys extremely difficult if not impossible, according to the Army controlled TV-Channel 7.
